Melissa Sutton

Melissa Sutton
A studio art major in college, Melissa began her decorating career in Atlanta, where she studied interior design at the Art Institute of Atlanta and worked for a firm specializing in high-end commercial properties and boutique hotels. She later moved to Los Angeles, where she spent two years in TV production and set design before landing a job with Michael Smith, an acclaimed decorator perhaps best known for his recent work at the White House. There she worked on major projects for celebrities such as Steven Spielberg and Michelle Pfeiffer while orchestrating renovations at Shutters on the Beach and other luxury hotels.
In the three years she’s been at Paysage, Melissa has worked to refine an approach to decorating that fuses classic comfort with the breezy elegance of Southern California design. She loves contrasting textures brightened with glamorous bursts of color. She believes exceptional basics are the smartest investment, but she relishes the hunt for that one dazzling piece that can light up a room. She adores chevrons and raw silks, jute rugs, slubby linens, Carrera marble, and reclaimed elm, and she never ceases to be amazed by the transformative power of the perfect shade of paint.
But Melissa’s favorite part of being a decorator? Helping each client discover and communicate his or her own unique style. She delights in guiding them through the process of blending cherished pieces with new and exciting discoveries. She looks forward to working with you.
