High Point Furniture Market

A Preview of What's in Store

Hello!

So we just got back from the High Point Furniture Market, and I’m beyond thrilled with the new things we have in store for Paysage. We went there on a mission and found exactly what we were looking for. I can honestly say we chose the best of the best.

Our biggest score might be the new outdoor furniture line we picked up, Kingsley-Bate. I can’t stress enough how cool outdoor living spaces can be. Why not extend your home and enjoy the fresh air a little more?! This line is reasonably priced, durable, and it looks like a million bucks. I cannot wait to start entertaining outdoors again, and I think this little set-up would be perfect in my backyard.

The next showroom we visited made me salivate. Seriously. It’s just beyond. Verellen is a line we’ve been admiring for a while – and we’re finally getting it in the store!  I almost don’t even want to tell you more, so you can be utterly surprised when you see this upholstery up close. It’s made with the most amazing Belgian linen by the most amazing Belgian men (OK, that last part I made up, but who knows, they could be amazing Belgian men), and it sits like a dream. I really can’t wait to show people how a single piece of Verellen can completely change the look of a home.

We also picked up some great accessories. If you’ve been in our store recently, you know we love large-scale art. This spring we’re going to shake things up a bit and display smaller pieces that form a series (so you’ll still get that dramatic effect).  For starters, how adorable are these handkerchief prints?!

We didn’t forget about pillows. How could we? Grey is still very popular, of course.  But I need some color in my life! This turquoise, orange, and brown palette made me a very happy girl. I’m a little obsessed with the brown velvet nailhead. Tres chic!

And oh, Bunny Williams. Bunny, Bunny, Bunny. Bless you for making our pilgrimage to Market so very worth it. Bunny Williams and I go way back (well, we go back to last fall, when she came to speak at our Week of Wow), so I’d like to think I had something to do with her introducing the most beautiful lamps I’ve ever seen.  But I probably didn’t. Regardless, the lamps are fabulous. We often talk about that one “jewelry piece” in a room. This, my friends, is jewelry.

I could go on and on about all the fun new stuff we’re getting for the store. But this is just a preview, and these are only pictures. Popping into the store so you can touch, sit, and feel is a must.

Join us on Thursday, April 28 from 4:00pm-8:00pm for our “Sip n’ Shop.”
We will share our photos and details of all our market finds. Who can say “dibs!” first?  See you soon!

Recipe

Croustade Aux Champignons

Croustade Aux ChampignonsOven 400 degrees F

24 slices extra thin white bread (Pepperidge Farm)
2 T. Butter, softened
Preheat Oven to 400 F. Cut a 3 inch round from each bread slice. Brush insides of 2 miniature muffin tins with butter; Gently fit bread rounds into each mold to form a cup. I use a wooden pestle to push them into the muffin tin. Bake 10 minutes until lightly brown. Cool.

Filling:

1 jar of shallots confit
1/2 lb Fresh Mushrooms, finely chopped
2 Tablespoons Flour
1 Cup Heavy Cream
1 1/2 Tablespoons Minced Parsley
1/2 teaspoon Lemon Juice
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/8 teaspoon cayenne Pepper

Stir in mushrooms and simmer uncovered until all liquid has evaporated -- about 10 minutes.  Remove from heat and add 3/4 of the jar of confit shallots, flour and cream.  Return to heat, stirring constantly. Bring to a boil and cook another minute or so until mixture becomes very thick.  Remove from heat and stir in remaining ingredients.  Cover and let cool in refrigerator.

At this point you may spoon the mushroom mixture into the toasted shells.
Let croustades thaw completely before baking.  Preheat oven to 350 F. Mix 2 Tablespoons freshly grated parmesan cheese with 2 teaspoons minced parsley and top each croustade with the mix. Top each with a small dollop of butter and arrange on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 10 minutes and serve.

Bon appetit!!!
