What will the New Year Bring?

As we enter 2012 with resolutions buzzing in our ears and the chill of a lake effect snowstorm outside our door, the time has come to reflect on 2011, and look forward with anticipation to 2012.  What will the New Year bring?

2011 is past.  2012, with all its possibilities has been ushered in.  This is a fresh chance to strive to live positively, without worry and doubt:  a chance to love and laugh and give of ourselves. This is a time to be thankful for loved ones, now gone, who have blessed our lives, and the time to look forward to new lives, yet to come.   It is a time to find joy in the small things, as we work toward continued success in the greater universe:  time to build on success and strive for new heights in the year ahead.

We look forward to introducing to you, our clients, the freshest colors, fun sophistication, , the finest and most comfortable furniture, and the most delectable design on the planet.   We will search the markets, vendors, and flea markets for components of the Paysage Blend you love. Stop in and visit us often.  You will not want to miss a thing!

In 2012, find the beauty around you.  Take time for creative expression. Have the courage to live a life true to yourself.  Be happy.

We have been smiling to the soulful sounds of the Nina Simone station. You can never go wrong with a true classic.

Flower of the Month:

Amaryllis
This stunning winter flower looks beautiful in simple or decorative European arrangements with its long stem and large bloom. The flowers come in various shades including red, white, pink, light green, and they can be solid or with patterns. The large blooms are lovely with greenery and texture, and can fill and add a burst of color. The long stems are nice for simple arrangements, the stem looks delicate next to the large bloom and the height alone is eloquent.

Sconces

Speaking of dramatic… these sconces remind us of something beautiful out of the Baroque Period. With bright antiqued gold finish, scrolling wood and iron candelabra, and dangling crystals, this piece dances across the wall like angle wings. We have placed two large, hand-rolled, ivory beeswax candles with this sconce to keep the light simple and pure.

Travel in style for your quick weekend winter getaway. John Robshaw has intrigued us with his traditional Indian dying techniques with block prints and indigo dyes, and now he tempts us with an array of travel and lifestyle products such as duffles, totes, cosmetic bags, and laptop cases.

Floor Mirror

Large and dramatic, this piece makes a statement while brightening a room. The decorative edges are antiqued mirror with gold detailing. We love this mirror propped up in a corner and even layered behind fabulous furniture. Large mirrors are a great way of catching extra light in a room and making a smaller space feel more open.

Turtle Chandelier:

This unique chandelier might be one of our more admired items. The resin shell shines with warm bronze hues and has layers of shell detailing that are geometrically pleasing to the eye. This is certainly a showstopper on the house tour.

A Healthy Recipe for the New Year!

Given the New Year and resolutions renewed, revisited, and / or revised, we thought a recipe that supports our goal to be our healthiest was appropriate this month. Luckily this soup is not only nutritious, but also incredibly delicious.

Ingredients:

  • 6 large onions
  • 2 bell peppers
  • 1 or 2 large cans of tomatoes (1 can Rotel)
  • 1 bunch or celery
  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 package Lipton Onion Soup Mix
Preparation:
Cut vegetables in small to medium pieces and cover with water, boil fast for 10 minutes. Cut to a simmer and continue cooking until vegetables are tender. This soup can be eaten anytime of the day. This soup will not add calories. (This soup recipe is from Weight Watches, The Basic Fat Burning Soup Diet, although the 7 day diet information has been has not been included.)

Enjoy!
