Making Happy Homes

                                              Meeting with Children at Heart

I was approached a month or so ago to do a pro-bono job for Paysage. It was the month that we were doing a promotion through the store that was called, "30 Days of Good Fortune".

We had asked our fans what they wished for from Paysage. Children at Heart, an adoption agency, replied back that they needed a chair for their meeting room for when they have support groups.

Light bulbs went off and we thought it would be a great idea to give them a chair plus an entire room of furniture that was more conducive for their needs.

We met with them right away and talked concept, colors, and function for the space. Soon after, we transformed the once dull conference room, to a happy comfortable area for the birth moms to meet and open up about their experiences. Fresh paint, a blend of neutral and bright colored upholstery, and realistic furniture helped to make this room the right fit for the work taking place within these walls.

I don't have to tell you how good it feels to be a part of giving something. Even if it is giving your time, the pay-off is endless.

I recommend finding something that is meaningful to you. The Children at Heart organization happened to be very meaningful to me because I'm adopted!  If you do not know where to start looking for a charity to support, you can always google the terms local charities and awareness months.

October happens to be Breast Cancer Awareness month and we've donated a fabulous piece of PINK art to show our support, and if you shop with Paysage through the month of October, you will be supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month too because a percentage of your purchase will be donated.

We’d love to hear about the ways you give back- click her to post on our Facebook page or come visit us at the store!

PANDORA STATION OF THE MONTH:
Fall is the time to S…L…O…W… down and the mellow groove of the ST Germain station is the right tempo. Enjoy the longer and darker evenings with creating a comfortable and relaxing mood. A fine glass of wine in hand is the perfect accompaniment to this music. Listen Now!

Not too technical, but boozy, classic and delicious.

FLOWER OF THE MONTH:
Ornamental kale is an interesting take on fall flowers. This beautiful bloom has a leafy green perimeter and the rosette can be purple, blue, white, red or pink. It will last through the winter and it is great to use snips of the leaves in arrangements for texture. If your plant is pure you can even eat it!
Impressive Bench:
Stretching 96 inches long with a low 16 inches high this piece of fabulous furniture can be used as a bench or a coffee table. We’d love to place some poufs and pillows on the floor and host a Moroccan dinner! And the best part yet… we could fit all the neighbors!

Tutu’s famous Pumpkin Seeds

There are some things in life that simply by the smell and taste, transport us back to childhood. For me Pumpkin seeds evoke happy memories of carving pumpkins with the family and toasting the seeds. If you’re not already too attached to your own family recipe, try my mother’s!  I promise you will be hooked for life.

–Lexi

Ingredients:
  • 2 Cups fresh pumpkin seeds unwashed (Yes, leave some of the guts on!)
  • 1 ½ Tablespoons melted butter
  • ½ teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 ½ teaspoon sea salt
Preparation:

Stir all ingredients together and mix well, coasting the seeds. Place mixture on a cookie sheet and bake in the oven at 250 degrees for 2-3 hours (stirring occasionally) until seeds are brown and crispy. Cool seeds and store in an airtight container.

Enjoy the taste of fall!
